COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Community Based services Department is charged with the Community Mobilization and Mindset Change Programme under the NDP III. It seeks to empower citizens, families and communities for increased responsibility and effective participation in sustainable national Development. Specifically, the Department through its core programme focuses on;
1. Enhancing effective mobilization of people, families and communities across the district for sustainable development.
2. Strengthening institutional capacity of the district and other actors for effective mobilization of communities
3. Promoting and inculcating the national vision and value system
4. Reducing negative cultural values and attitudes
The department headed by the District Community Development Officer is supported by the Senior Community Development Officer, Mr. Kyesa Benard and the Senior Probation and Welfare Officer, Mr. Magambo Willy at the District level. Despite the District having 24 LLGs, the department has only 14 substantive Community Development Officers (CDOs) that support and offer community Based services’ roles and functions.
